Nashville SC Endures Another Road Disappointment

The Nashville Soccer Club took another defeat on the road with a one-goal game against Chicago Fire FC on Saturday night.

Chicago beat Nashville SC for the first time with a 1-0 score in five tries, as Nashville SC has totaled only one goal in their 0-3-1 away slump.

Nashville SC started the contest without its two lead players as Walker Zimmerman sat out after his red card against D.C. United last Saturday.

Additionally, Landon Donovan MLS MVP Hany Mukthar only came in after the first half as a substitute to save momentum for upcoming games.

Nashville started off strong offensively, with forward Teal Bunbury pushing Chicago’s defense and leading the team with five shots.

On the defensive side, Lukas MacNaughton led the team with 77 accurate passes and three clearances.

Mukhtar came close to a goal after hitting the post in the 72nd minute but was unable to level the score.

With the only goal of the game, Chicago’s Fabian Herbers took the ball from a Nashville turnover and was assisted by Marien Haile-Selassie to get it past goalkeeper Joe Willis in the 34th minute.

With the remainder of the game came yellow cards for both teams and missed chances for a goal, but Nashville SC still holds the second spot in the Eastern Conference with a 11-5-6 record and 38 points, just six points below FC Cincinnati.

Nashville SC has not won an away game in over a month, but hopes to keep their hot streak going at home as they host Philadelphia Union at Geodis Park on Wednesday.

Nashville currently has six consecutive wins at home and remains unbeaten in eight matches dating back to March 25th.
